Lunita Jungle Retreat Center — an off-grid jungle retreat in Puerto Morelos, Riviera Maya, Mexico, for personal retreats, hosted group retreats, and corporate wellbeing programs.
Lunita Jungle Retreat Center was built by an Italian mother and son, Lorenza and Nico Rossi. Nico — a photographer of more than twenty years — first envisioned Lunita around 2016 and carried that vision for roughly a decade; Lorenza brought 35 years of business experience from Italy. Ground was broken in 2021 and Lunita opened in November 2022.
It was built with permission ceremonies asked of the land, out loud, before construction began — and a small home (a kahtal alux) was made for the Aluxes, the Maya guardian spirits. Not a single tree was cut during construction; more than 5,000 were planted. The center runs fully off-grid: 100% solar power stored in on-site batteries, water drawn from an underground cenote beneath the property, and biodigester sanitation.
Nico Rossi — co-founder. Italian, photographer of 20+ years, who carried the vision of Lunita for roughly ten years before it became what it is today.
Lorenza Rossi — co-founder and Nico's mother. 35 years in marketing, sales, and entrepreneurship in Italy before Lunita; she leads the corporate retreat work.
