Yoga Retreats at Lunita

Yoga, held by the jungle.

There are a thousand yoga retreats in Mexico, and most of their websites use the same three stock photos. We're not going to do that. Here's what's actually true: you'll practice in the Crystal Shala, a transparent octagonal studio whose walls open fully or partially to 80,000 m² of Maya jungle, forty minutes from Cancún, with howler monkeys for a soundtrack and a cenote under your feet. Then someone who knows your name will feed you.

What a yoga retreat here actually is

IN SHORT

A small thing, on purpose. Lunita holds about twenty people, total. So a yoga retreat here isn't a hotel with a class bolted on; it's the whole property, quiet, given over to practice. The Crystal Shala is open to the air, a transparent octagonal structure whose walls open fully or partially (sound system, props if you want them: mats, blocks, chairs, blankets). The mornings are slow. The food is made around what your body is doing. And nobody is upselling you a spa package, because there isn't one.

You can come to a yoga retreat that's already running here, or you can shape your own, solo or with a few people, around the practice you actually want. Both are real options. (More on cost below, plainly, because every other site hides it.)

The setting (the part that's hard to fake)

  • A jungle shala, not a conference room with a yoga mat.
  • Water from the cenote beneath the property. Sun for electricity. Not a tree was cut to build any of this; 5,000 were planted.
  • 8 cabanas, max ~20 guests, so the space stays quiet.
  • 40 minutes from Cancún airport, deep enough in the jungle to forget it.

What your days look like (one common shape; yours will differ)

Morning practice as the heat is still soft. A long, unhurried breakfast. Open hours: cenote swims, the pool, a hammock, a hike, a sound healing or temazcal if you want one. Evening practice or stillness as the jungle gets loud. We don't pack the schedule. The point is space, not a checklist. See everything on offer.

Who comes (and who it's for)

People who practice and want depth, not a resort. First-timers who want to be held gently. Solo travelers (yes, it's safe and you won't be lonely; the table fills). Couples. Small groups. Teachers scouting a venue for their own group go to a different page, because this one is for coming to practice, not hosting: I teach yoga and want to bring my group.

What it costs

Food and accommodation are 220 USD per night for one person, 360 for two sharing a room. That covers your cabana and three meals a day made around what you eat. The shape of the retreat, the teacher you work with, the sessions and ceremonies you add, is designed with you on the call, so the rest follows what you actually want. For longer stays, just ask. (We publish this because you shouldn't have to email three times to find out if you can afford a retreat.)

Two ways into the shala

Come to a yoga retreat already running in the jungle, or shape your own private yoga retreat around the practice you actually want. Both are real. Both are held.

What guests say

My name is Flora, and I'm truly passionate about yoga. I came here for the first time with one of my instructors, Melissa, and Lunita has been such a special discovery, a truly unique place. Nestled deep in the jungle, it feels peaceful, alive, and simply amazing. I'm so happy and grateful to have experienced this magical place.

What else happens here

A yoga retreat is one thread. The same jungle holds ceremonies, the full menu of sessions, and the center itself. When you book, the jungle packing guide covers the rest.

FAQ

Is this good for beginners?
Yes. The practice is shaped to who's here, not to a level. Come new; we've got you.
Do I need to come with a group?
No. Solo, couple, or a few friends all work. If you'd rather join an existing retreat, ask what's on the calendar.
What style of yoga?
It depends who's leading and what you want; we build it around you rather than forcing one lineage. Tell us on the call.
Is it safe for a woman travelling alone?
Yes. Small property, staff who live here, a table that fills with people. Solo travelers are common.
Where exactly is it?
80,000 m² of jungle near Puerto Morelos, 40 minutes south of Cancún airport.
