Meet the People Behind The Aesthetic Collective

Bright turquoise building wall with a large white and teal mural of a profile face framed by organic, Lunita Jungle Retreat

A guest post by Lala and Lewie, founders of The Aesthetic Collective, a retreat for aesthetics professionals coming to Lunita in April 2027, organized with Lauren Garcia of Jadara Travel. Details and reservations are on the retreat page.

It started with one cup of coffee.

No business plan. No months-long strategy session. No carefully scheduled brainstorming retreat.

Just two people in the aesthetics industry sitting down for coffee after a training session.

We started talking.

About the industry. About providers. About how much we love what we do, and how easy it is for people who are deeply passionate about this work to give so much of themselves that eventually, there isn't much left.

Somewhere in that conversation, a question emerged:

What if we created a place where the people who spend their careers taking care of everyone else could finally be taken care of?

A few hours later, the idea had a vision.

The Aesthetic Collective was becoming real.

Maybe that's what happens when you put two people together who are equally serious about their industry, and equally serious about changing the conversation around burnout within it.

We Love This Industry. That's Exactly Why This Exists.

Burnout isn't always a sign that you've stopped loving what you do.

Sometimes it happens because you love it so much that you don't know when to stop giving.

Aesthetic professionals spend their days pouring into other people. We treat. Educate. Consult. Sell. Create. Run businesses. Build clientele. Attend trainings. Answer messages. Keep up with new techniques and products. Show up online.

Then we go home and become parents, partners, friends and everything else life asks us to be.

We wanted to create something that acknowledges both sides of that person.

The professional who wants to keep growing, and the human being who needs room to breathe.

That's The Aesthetic Collective.

And that's where the two of us come in.

Meet Lala: Ambition Meets Mindfulness

Lala's life moves quickly.

Her career in professional skincare, travel, business building, raising two teenagers and an almost constant stream of ideas mean there's rarely a shortage of something to do.

She also genuinely loves that part of herself.

Ambition isn't something she's trying to recover from.

But neither is stillness.

Long before The Aesthetic Collective existed, mindfulness, meditation and yoga had become personal passions. Not because of a formal wellness credential or because wellness became another professional title, but because these practices created something increasingly valuable in a busy life:

PRESENCE

There is something powerful about intentionally becoming quiet when your personality naturally wants to move.

About noticing your breath.

About putting your phone down.

About allowing your body to be still before your mind has finished its list.

And about understanding that slowing down doesn't mean you've stopped moving forward.

That's the perspective Lala brings into The Aesthetic Collective.

Wellness doesn't have to become another thing to achieve.

You don't need the perfect morning routine.

You don't need to meditate perfectly.

You don't need to transform into an entirely different person.

Sometimes wellness is simply learning how to return to yourself in the middle of a life you actually love.

You can be deeply ambitious and deeply grounded.

You can want growth and still protect your peace.

You can build something extraordinary without sacrificing yourself to build it.

Meet Lewie: Passion You Can Feel

Lewie's journey in aesthetics began in Las Vegas before eventually bringing him to Houston, where he's now built his life and work as a well-known and absolutely adored Esthetician.

If you've met Lewie, however, his résumé probably isn't the first thing you remember.

It's his energy.

Lewie is one of those people who can change the feeling of a room simply by entering it. It's genuinely difficult to have a bad day around him.

That energy carries directly into his work.

His passion for skin and facial techniques runs deep, and he pours himself into the treatment room and the clients who trust him there.

For Lewie, this work isn't simply about completing a treatment.

It's touch.

It's technique.

It's connection.

It's making someone feel cared for.

It's continuing to learn so the person on the treatment table receives something better because of it.

And that passion is precisely why burnout matters to him.

Because the providers who give that much of themselves deserve somewhere they can receive, too.

Lewie's vision for The Aesthetic Collective was a space where providers could decompress, learn new techniques, share what they know and reconnect with the part of themselves that originally fell in love with the industry.

He doesn't want someone leaving Mexico simply saying:

"That was relaxing."

He wants them going home thinking:

"I can't wait to get back into my treatment room."

One Cup of Coffee. Two Perspectives. One Very Fast Decision.

Looking back, it's almost funny how quickly it happened.

We sat down for coffee after a training session.

We started talking about what was missing.

And within hours, we were building it.

Maybe we should have taken longer.

But when two passionate people recognize the same problem at the same time, sometimes you don't need another meeting.

You need to move.

Lewie brought the treatment-room perspective: artistry, touch, education, technique and the emotional energy providers give their clients every day.

Lala brought another side: mindfulness, business, sales, travel, personal growth and the belief that ambition becomes much more sustainable when it's paired with intentional stillness.

Different perspectives.

Same conclusion:

We don't want talented people burning themselves out of an industry they love.

This Isn't an Aesthetics Conference in the Jungle

That distinction matters to us.

Yes, we're going to learn.

Yes, we're going to talk about skin.

Yes, we're going to talk about techniques, consultations, business and growth.

But education is only one part of the experience.

There will also be yoga.

Meditation.

Breathwork.

Time in nature.

Reflection.

Incredible conversations.

Meals together.

Laughter.

Quiet.

And moments where absolutely nothing is expected of you.

Because we're not interested in filling every available minute just so an itinerary looks impressive.

The space between the activities matters, too.

That's often where connection happens.

It's where someone shares the thing they've been struggling with.

It's where an idea surfaces.

It's where strangers become friends.

It's where your nervous system finally realizes nobody needs anything from you right now.

We Don't Want You to Escape Your Life

We want you to return to it differently.

That's an important distinction.

The goal of The Aesthetic Collective isn't to create five beautiful days in Mexico that make you dread going home.

We want you to miss your treatment room.

We want you thinking about your clients again.

We want an idea scribbled in your notebook that you're impatient to try.

We want you texting someone you met at the retreat three months later.

We want you to bring home a new technique, a new perspective, a new friendship, or simply a version of yourself that feels a little more present.

Because eliminating burnout isn't about eliminating ambition.

And wellness isn't about doing less with your life.

Sometimes it's about learning when to stop, reconnect and refill so you can keep doing the things you genuinely love.

That was the conversation over one cup of coffee.

And now it's becoming a retreat in the Mexican jungle.

Rest. Connect. Grow.

Then come home inspired.
