Executive burnout has a specific problem: it is not allowed to exist, which is why a retreat in Mexico built for people who cannot be tired starts by admitting it. A leader who is visibly exhausted becomes a question mark over the company, so the exhaustion goes underground and the delivery continues, which is exactly how it gets worse. We wrote about that pattern in detail in the burnout that still delivers: the person still hits the numbers while everything around the numbers quietly erodes.
A retreat for that person cannot be a generic wellness week. It has to solve three problems at once.
Privacy that is structural, not promised
Executives do not rest in places where they might be recognized, and they do not switch off in places with conference wifi. Lunita is off-grid by construction: solar powered, in preserved jungle at Km 17 of the Ruta de los Cenotes, with up to 20 guests on 5,000 square meters surrounded by eighty thousand more of trees. Nobody is networking. There is nothing to perform.
Work on the body, because the mind will not go first
The executive pattern is cognitive: analyze, plan, control. Asking that mind to relax is asking it to do one more task. So the days here run the other way, through the body: temazcal heat, cenote cold, breathwork, deep rest practices like yoga nidra and sound baths, long sleep in the quiet. The mind follows the body down; it rarely leads.
Enough time, structured loosely
Three days interrupts nothing. Most executive stays here run five to seven nights: long enough for the second-day restlessness to pass and for something underneath it to surface. The structure is a spine, morning practice, one held experience a day, shared meals, and the rest is deliberately empty, because empty time is the thing this guest has not had in years.
Alone, or with the team
Some come alone, and the solitude is the treatment. Others come because the exhaustion is organizational, not personal, and for that we run Lunita Raiz: a diagnostic-first corporate program that measures what the team is actually carrying, burnout included, and builds the days around what comes back. If the tiredness you are reading this with belongs to your whole leadership team, start there.
On why a jungle holds this work better than a conference floor, our page on corporate retreat locations in Mexico makes the case.
What changes
We will not promise transformation; we distrust the word. What guests describe is smaller and more useful: sleeping through the night again, the first unhurried meal in memory, noticing the moment the shoulders came down. The pattern interrupt is the product. What you build on it afterward is yours.
What a day here actually looks like
Mornings begin without an alarm; breakfast holds until you appear. A body practice starts the day, breathwork, gentle movement, or time in the water, chosen by state rather than schedule. The middle of the day is deliberately unclaimed: the pool, the jungle paths, a hammock, a book you have owned for two years and never opened. One held experience anchors the late afternoon or evening, a temazcal, a sound session, a fire, and dinner is cooked for you and eaten with whoever else is here, or alone if that is what today needs. Nobody asks what you do for a living unless you bring it up. The absence of agenda is not a gap in the program; for this guest, it is the program.
Lunita has hosted more than 120 retreats since 2022; the setting, the practices and the quiet are the same ones our nervous system reset guests come for. The executive version simply takes the availability problem seriously.
