A Vital Breathwork session at Lunita is a guided, music-supported workshop that teaches you the science and art of optimal breathing. You'll assess your current patterns, learn the principles of an efficient breath, and practice evidence-based techniques that calm the mind, release tension, and sharpen focus, held in open-air sacred spaces where the jungle's stillness amplifies every breath. Here's what it involves. (For the broader practice, see the breathwork retreat guide.)
What the session involves
It's an interactive workshop (75 to 90 minutes) blending breathing wisdom with modern physiology. You'll map your baseline with a Reconnect Breath Assessment (rate, depth, cadence, nose vs mouth, posture); practice resonance breathing (about 5 to 6 breaths per minute) to balance the nervous system; and explore CO₂-tolerance drills to build stress resilience. The emphasis is functional, breathing better in everyday life, not just in the room.
Why the setting helps
Practicing in a calm group field lets your nervous system "borrow" steadiness from the room, and nature, music, and a sense of ritual add safety signals that help the learning stick. Safe activation-and-release cycles let stuck feelings move without overwhelm. It pairs naturally with sound healing, temazcal, and a personal retreat.
A note on safety
Breathwork is adaptable and usually gentle. If you're pregnant or managing cardiovascular or respiratory conditions, intensity is kept low with slow, comfortable pacing, just let your facilitator know in advance.
